Pearls of Wisdom

I'm a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a niece, an aunty, and a friend. All who are in my life are cherished. As life has evolved they've influenced my interests, my careers, and how I live my life. Life is not easy. I am grateful and blessed for all that I have. My family and work are the two biggest influencers in my life... and my interests (like traveling, cooking, and baking) are "sprinkled" in between.
What are your thoughts on aging?
Each year of life is a gift; and I'm so grateful for what life has given me in the years that have passed. 49 years feels like it's flown by... and I've lived a jam-packed life that is truly a blessing. Each year brings new experiences and memories. Age is a number... and I need to live it to the fullest.
What wonderful things can younger women look forward to at your age? Younger women and girls, might think that it's scary getting older. Let's inspire them!
Age is a number. It's also a reflection of the investment in an evolved version of yourself... A more courageous, brave, confident, and secure person, who has so much to give and share, to lift others up, including yourself. Numbers are only scary if you let it get the best of you. -- Don't let it.
Share tips on how you celebrate yourself, what you do for fun, and self care.
One of my favorite self care options is foot reflexology, specifically at Oasis Spa. I've been going to them since I moved back to Hawaii. Their services are amazing! When I first met my husband, one of our regular dates, a few times a month, would be to have foot reflexology on an evening after work and catch a simple dinner afterwards. Life has gotten really busy for us, but when we have time for a date, this gives us a chance to rejuvenate together. When he hasn't been able to go with me, it's a great way for me to "ground" myself.
Share one experience/story. We all have life struggles. But the big share is how did you over come and lift yourself up? Advice to other women to empower them.
I always wanted to be a mom... It was not a simple journey. I waited to find the right man for me before marrying and having a family. I also experienced some medical issues before our son was born. As each experience became a part of life, I learned that acceptance of myself, my situation and my environment was a part in recognizing the struggle; and the way to overcome the struggle was to address each part of it, step by step.
What would you tell your 14-year-old self?
Your world is your oyster. High school is a glimpse of your future self, one that you'll never imagine. You'll go through experiences and visit parts of the country and world that will expand your views on life, influence your values, and help you understand that you will be at the right place when you need to be there.
Twenty years from now, when you look at these portraits we took together, what do you think you will say to yourself?
Wow! I'm so glad I took those photos! I'm proud of the "bad-ass" life I've had!
